Avalon Adds New Ships, Itineraries for 2010

Apr 14, 2009

In 2010, Avalon Waterways will not only christen two new ships in Europe, but will increase its vacations by nearly 20 percent, unveiling more than 30 itineraries that range from five to 23 days in length throughout Europe, China, Egypt and the Galapagos Islands.

To meet increased demand, Avalon Waterways has also created five new cruises for 2010:

The first, Paris to Normandy’s Landing Beaches. This eight-day roundtrip Paris itinerary combines the French capital with small, quaint towns along the Seine River, the picturesque Normandy region and the poignant Landing Beaches. Among its signature sights are Van Gogh’s Auvers-sur-Oise, Monet’s gardens at Giverny and Joan of Arc’s historic Rouen. Pricing is from $2,049 land/cruise only.

The second, Grand France is 16 days in length and travels between Paris and the Cote d’Azur, while cruising along the Seine and the picturesque and tranquil Normandy region, along with the charming and historic cities along the Saone and Rhone rivers, from $4,329 land/cruise only.

The third itinerary, Castles on the Rhine to the City of Music, is 13 days in length and takes clients from Zurich, Germany, to Vienna, Austria, visiting a total of four countries, three rivers and the strategic Main-Danube Canal. The cruise starts in Zurich and includes calls to Strasbourg, Wurzburg, Nuremberg and Vienna, with an excursion to Heidelberg and the Benedictine Abbey of Melk from $3,459.

The fourth, A Taste of the Danube, lasts for four or five days and sails between Vienna and Budapest. The cruise is ideal for first-time river cruisers or those fitting a cruise into a longer vacation. This short cruise vacation gives travelers time in Budapest, Bratislava, Slovakia, and Vienna. For more exploration, cruisers are invited to add extra days on either end of this itinerary, in either Vienna or Budapest. Pricing is from $949 land/cruise only.

The fifth, Christmastime in Germany & Austria, lasts for 12 days and sails between Frankfurt, Germany, and Vienna includes the festive Christmas markets and highlights of the towns along the Main and Danube with a local expert, from $2,669 land/cruise only.

Avalon is also offering early booking incentives until June 30, including $150 off per person any 2010 Egypt, China, Galapagos or Taste of the Danube cruise/land-only vacation or $300 off per person when booking air on the same itineraries. For most European cruise vacations, the offer is $250 off per person cruise-/land-only or $500 off per person when booking air on the same itineraries.
