In May 2011, Avalon Waterways will launch a new design for its river cruise ships with the introduction of the Avalon Panorama.
In addition to the lower deck’s 17 staterooms, measuring 172 square feet each, the newbuild will have 64 Panorama Suites featuring 200 square feet of space. The suites have large seating areas adjacent to a floor-to-ceiling window wall that is nearly 11 feet wide by seven feet tall, making the entire suite feel like a balcony. All accommodations will have flat-screen televisions, large closets, minibars and safes.
“Avalon’s Open-Air Balconies offer our travelers a fresh-air, panoramic cruising experience complete with epic views, in every weather condition, without compromising room space,” said Patrick Clark, managing director of Avalon Waterways.
Public areas will include a club, main lounge and dining room, a hair salon and a Sky Deck with a pool and bistro for outdoor grilled lunches. The expanded fitness room will have additional equipment and space for relaxation.
“With our Avalon Panorama, we’re pioneering the new look of river cruising,” said Scott Nisbet, president and CEO of the Globus Family of Brands. “Not only are Panorama’s rooms 30 percent larger and views 50 percent more expansive than the industry average in Europe, every component of the experience, from bed and bathroom positioning and color palette to storage space and soundproof insulation, was designed for our cruisers to ensure that they enjoy all that small-ship cruising has to offer.”
The Avalon Panorama will sail the 14-night Magnificent Europe itinerary for most of 2011, as well as the Christmas markets itineraries.
