American Cruise Lines is introducing a 22-day “Complete Mississippi Cruise” aboard American Eagle, the first of four new ships the company is building. The 150-passenger American Eagle debuts on the itinerary in 2015.
The itinerary departs from New Orleans and disembarks in St. Paul, Minn., calling at 16 American heartland towns and cities in 10 states along the way. The company said it created the 22-day itinerary based on a strong pattern of demand, with many guests booking three back-to-back weeklong cruises on their own. The cruise includes visits to Natchez, Miss.; Vicksburg, Miss.; St. Louis, Mo.; Paducah, Ky.; and Dubuque, Iowa.
Passengers traveling the full length of the Mississippi on the three-week sailing will get a strong sense of the country’s complexity and diversity as they experience the differences in cultures, accents and cuisine from New Orleans with its French and African influences to the Scandinavian heritage of Minnesota.
