With plans for the launch of three more Suites Ships in 2014, Avalon Waterways has announced that Deborah Hutton, Australian celebrity and television host, will christen the Avalon Illumination next year.
A former international model, Hutton has had a high-profile career as a television host on a range of highly rated programs. She is currently the host of Australia’s Foxtel Movie Show. In addition, in 2012, she founded Balance by Deborah Hutton, an online community designed to provide women practical advice to help them maintain balance in their lives. She has also served as a brand ambassador for iconic Australian companies like Qantas.
Hutton will christen the Illumination in a ceremony June 14, 2014. Christening plans are also under way for the Avalon Poetry II and Avalon Impression for 2014; details will be unveiled later this year.
Like their predecessors, the new ships will have two full decks of suites, with each suite featuring Avalon’s Open-Air balcony, offering guests a combination of the largest windows available with a sliding-glass door that opens wide at seven feet, plus a spacious seating area. The concept is to make the suite itself a balcony without taking away living space when the weather is inclement.
Patrick Clark, managing director of Avalon Waterways, said, “Each suite has been thoughtfully designed to enhance the European cruise experience. From bed and bathroom positioning to storage and sound-proof insulation, we provide cruisers a renewed feeling of freedom, space and comfort not found with other cruise lines.”
Enhancements include flowers in each stateroom and premium L’Occitane products along with marble bathrooms and Avalon-branded deluxe bedding (Comfort Collection by Avalon). Public rooms include a club, a main lounge and a dining room with sweeping views, a hair salon, the Sky Deck whirlpool and an open-air bistro for outdoor, grilled lunches. In addition, the fitness rooms onboard the new ships will be larger, offering both additional equipment and room to renew.
