River Cruises Light Up Holiday Travel Options

For clients who are looking for new holiday travel ideas, river cruise lines are offering a tempting array of cruises with two-for-one pricing, substantial discounts, single supplement waivers and free stays in major European cities.

Guests have the opportunity to holiday treats, caroling, tree trimming, Christmas markets and concerts while they sail by holiday lights and decorations in European ports and enjoy festive dining and New Year’s fireworks displays.

Among the offerings are Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection’s $600 per couple savings on holiday season cruises, including the eight-day Rhine Holiday Markets from Basel, Switzerland, to Cologne, Germany; Danube Holiday Markets from Budapest to Passau, Germany; European Holiday Markets from Vienna to Nuremberg, Germany; Classic Christmas Markets from Nuremberg to Frankfurt; and Parisian Winter Holiday, sailing roundtrip from Paris.

AmaWaterways provides a complimentary stay in Amsterdam to guests who book one of two Christmas and New Year’s cruises, which depart Dec. 20 and Dec. 22 and include two nights in Prague and an eight- or nine-night Nuremberg to Amsterdam cruise. New bookings made through Oct. 31 will receive triple savings with a $500 price savings per person on the cruise, a complimentary one-category stateroom upgrade plus a $100 shipboard credit per stateroom.

Scenic Cruises is offering a 16-day, three-river, four-country cruise sailing from Amsterdam to Budapest, departing Dec. 21 with reduced pricing starting at $5,385 per person, double occupancy. Clients spend two days in Vienna and, at the end of the cruise, they have two days in Budapest, with tours to Heroes’ Square, Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion and the medieval town on Castle Hill.

Avalon Waterways is offering a $1,000 discount per couple for bookings on holiday cruises, including the nine-day Christmastime on the Danube cruise from Prague to Vienna, Nov. 24 and Dec. 24, as well as the 12-day Christmastime cruise from Zurich to Prague, departing Dec. 17. The single supplement is waived for solo travelers.

Viking River Cruises is offering two-for-one rates on the price of a cruise and airfare for two cruises during the holiday season: the Nov. 20 departure of the eight-day Rhine Getaway cruise between Amsterdam and Basel and the Dec. 17, 11-day Winter on the Danube from Nuremberg to Budapest.
