Next year, Scenic Cruises will introduce the 125-guest Scenic Gem, a ship built specifically to sail the Seine. The newest vessel in a fleet of eight Scenic Cruises Space-Ships, Scenic Gem will cruise northern France on its 11-day Gems of the Seine itinerary, with up to 126 guests cruising roundtrip from Paris.
A fine dining French restaurant will debut on Scenic Gem. In addition, Table La Rive, reserved for guests of the Danube deck, is a chef’s degustation experience of six courses with premium wines. The Crystal Dining Room will provide a wide range of menu choices and the River Cafe features light fare all day. On select days, a barbecue will be offered on the Sun Deck, and 24-hour room service is available to all guests.
The Gem claims the title of being the only river cruiser that is able to transit the full span of the Seine, passing under Pont de Brotonne — the oldest bridge of its kind in the world — before docking in the port city of Honfleur. The cruise offers overnights to explore Paris, Rouen and Honfleur. Scenic Enrich events on this itinerary, which are exclusive to Scenic Cruises’ guests, include a private classical concert in the grandiose 16th-century Chateau-de-Champlatreux in Paris’ northern suburbs.
The Gems of the Seine itinerary is scheduled between July and October 2014, with prices from $5,420. Early booking incentives include free flights or savings of up to $1,300 per couple on select cabins and for select dates when booked at least 90 days prior to departure — and the earlier the booking, the bigger the savings. Fare includes unlimited beverages, Wi-Fi service, transfers and gratuities both on the ship and on land.
