Claiming the title of world’s largest river cruise ship, Victoria Cruises’ new Victoria Jenna, launched in early September, is almost 10,000 gross tons in weight, approximately 439 feet long, 62 feet wide and 56 feet high, with a draft of about 9 feet. Without the size constraints of river vessels in Europe, which must pass through locks and under low bridges, designers created the Jenna with five passenger decks, four elevators, two separate full-service kitchens and wireless CDMA Internet, as well as full bathtubs and high-efficiency dual-flush toilets in each passenger stateroom.
The Jenna’s 200 staterooms include 150 superior staterooms, 35 junior suites, three deluxe suites and two Shangri-La Suites. Every room has a balcony so guests can enjoy the amazing views along the Yangtze. Rooms also feature marble-top bathroom counters, in-room refrigerators and safety boxes, 26-inch Phillips LCD flat-screen televisions in each stateroom (suites feature 42"-inch televisions with DVD players), international cable broadcasts of HBO and CNN, advanced-cooling air conditioning systems and a fully equipped fitness center.
For meetings, retreats and conferences, the ship has two dedicated conference rooms equipped with AV-ready equipment for presentations with the capacity to seat up to 40 guests each, while the Yangtze Club holds 380 guests and is also AV-equipped for large group seminars and lectures. The Dynasty Dining Room, also the Yangtze River's largest, has a capacity of 350 guests, while the upper deck VIP Club restaurant can accommodate up to 150 guests.
Two separate kitchens provide customized meal requests from kosher and gluten-free to vegetarian. The VIP Club offers a la carte dining, as well as omelet and egg stations for breakfast, noodle and sandwich stations for lunch, and Carving and Peking Duck stations for lunch or dinner. All food on the ship is freshly prepared. Grass-fed and hormone-free meats are used, and all pastries, breads and desserts are handmade.
The Victoria Jenna also features a lecture room for lectures on the Yangtze River's history and lessons in tai chi, Mandarin language and mahjong, a library/reading room, cocktail lounge, beauty parlor and mini-spa, gift shop, observation deck, business center, health clinic and an atrium lobby.
