Viking has revealed it will construct another of its signature Viking Longships specifically for the Seine River, to launch in 2025. The as-yet-unnamed vessel will be a smaller version of the Longships sailing elsewhere in Europe, and a sister to the line’s other identical Seine ships, Viking Fjorgyn, Viking Kari, Viking Radgrid and Viking Skaga, which first set sail in 2022.
“The Paris and the Heart of Normandy itinerary continues to be popular with our guests,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking. “We are excited to expand our offerings in this region and welcome even more guests onboard to explore this incredible part of the world rich in history and culture.”
The eight-day roundtrip route from Paris features a dedicated docking location at Port de Grenelle, just steps away from the Eiffel Tower, as well as stops in Giverny, Rouen and Normandy for its World War II beaches and other historical sites.
Viking’s fifth Seine riverboat will carry 168 guests in 84 cabins and sport the line’s contemporary Scandinavian design among venues such as an al fresco Aquavit Terrace. Environmentally friendly features will extend to the use of onboard solar panels, in addition to hybrid battery packs and shore power to reduce fuel consumption while in port.
