Siegfried & Roy Farewell Performance

Feb 10, 2009

Siegfried & Roy give farewell performance // Siegfried & Roy F
Siegfried & Roy

Siegfried & Roy, Magicians of The Century, will perform their final, highly-anticipated night of magic at the Power of Love Gala on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. ABC News is producing “Siegfried & Roy: The Magic Returns,” a special edition of “20/20” about the Las Vegas entertainment icons and their farewell performance, scheduled to air 9 p.m. ET Friday, March 6, and anchored by Elizabeth Vargas.

“I am thrilled ABC is going to share this unforgettable evening with the world,” said Larry Ruvo, founding chairman of the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute. “Having said that, only those in the audience that night will be able to say ‘I was there.’”

A select amount of tickets for the star-studded gala are still available. In addition to the unparalleled entertainment for the evening, guests will savor delights from celebrity chefs Wolfgang Puck, Todd English, Jean-Philippe Maury and Martin Heierling as well as renowned champagne, wine and spirits to awaken the senses. More information about the 2009 Power of Love Gala can be found at www.keepmemoryalive.org.

At last year’s Power of Love Gala, Siegfried & Roy surprised the world and announced they would deliver one final performance to benefit Keep Memory Alive, the foundation for the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute. Siegfried & Roy have been iconic entertainment legends for more than 40 years and have not performed since Oct. 3, 2003.

On a recent private tour of the Institute, Siegfried & Roy said, “We are in awe of the facility that has been created to serve our great community. We are delighted that our final performance can bring attention to the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute and the work that is being done here, because it is worthy of worldwide recognition.”

The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, broke ground on its future site at Union Park in downtown Las Vegas on Feb. 9, 2007. Trendsetting in design and practice, the Institute will lead the fight against debilitating neurodegenerative diseases. With projected completion by mid- 2009, the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute will transform downtown Las Vegas and be the premier research and treatment facility for all chronic brain disorders.

Headed by Dr. Zaven Khachaturian, PhD, and supported by internationally acclaimed researchers, the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute will focus on the research and treatment of Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, ALS and memory disorders. The 67,000 square-foot institute will include 13 examination rooms, offices for healthcare practitioners and researchers, a “Museum of the Mind,” a community auditorium and a Wolfgang Puck café.
