Move over, Marie Kondo. Intentional packing and luggage-lightening travel tips are great — but what if you didn’t need to carry anything at all? As of Dec. 5, guests of select W Hotels properties can order designer clothes and accessories straight to their hotel rooms, then drop the items off at the welcome desk.
Via a partnership with online fashion subscription service Rent the Runway (RTR), W Hotels now offers clients the new RTR Closet Concierge at W Aspen, W South Beach, W Washington D.C. and W Hollywood. Upon booking a room, clients can choose four styles to rent for their stay from RTR’s Unlimited Closet for $69; options are tailored to each hotel’s location and incorporate RTR’s proprietary data on trending colors, designers, silhouettes and the climate of each locale.
Think: Just in time for W Aspen’s inaugural ski season, clients can have mountain-chic outfits waiting for them, including sweaters, puffers, vintage denim and leggings, along with accessories such as sunglasses, clutches and jewelry.
Collaborating with RTR allows W Hotels to reinvent the way guests pack and dress as they travel, according to Anthony Ingham, global brand leader for W Hotels.
“Skipping the packing process is a whole new level of luxury for our guests and is yet another surprising way to continue to reinvent hospitality,” he said.
Traveling without extra weight is indeed a dream for most clients, says Jennifer Hyman, co-founder and CEO of RTR, who is pleased to make it a reality.
“Travelers can simply show up and have their dream closet waiting for them in their hotel room,” she said.
