In a nostalgic tribute to classic holiday ballet “The Nutcracker,” The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Los Angeles has introduced a limited-time holiday collection. Available through the end of the year, the Nutcracker Collection includes four themed treatments: Mother Ginger Pedicure, Frosted Facial, Sugar Plum Body Polish and Pas de Deux Chocolate Stone Massage. Each incorporates seasonal scents with elements such as frosted sugar cookie lotions, brown sugar scrubs and chocolate oils.
I certainly smelled like a delicious holiday treat at the close of my 80-minute Sugar Plum Body Polish. My therapist, Lynn, began with a vanilla cinnamon brown sugar body scrub that practically transformed the room into a bakery. Once I washed off the scrub, she applied a sugar plum shea butter via massage, and followed it with a marshmallow lotion for my shoulders and decolletage that had me pining for all things Christmastime.
To maximize relaxation time, I suggest clients arrive early to enjoy the steam room, then unwind in the lounge after their treatment with tea and a snack. Even down to its color palette and oh-so-soft Keiki Co. blankets, the spa creates a tranquil oasis away from the hubbub of the holiday season.
I, for one, felt like I was floating as I bid farewell to Lynn and reluctantly headed back to reality. And, as the first client to try out the new Nutcracker Collection, I think I certainly earned the title of Sugar Plum Fairy.
