This Thanksgiving is set to be a busy one, with 64% of travelers going out of town for the holiday, according to new research from the American Society of Travel Advisors.
But where are they headed? According to Allianz Partners, which analyzed more than 2 million itineraries that fall between Nov. 19 and Nov. 29, travelers are largely flocking to major U.S. cities and Mexican beaches.
Where to Travel for Thanksgiving
The insurance provider’s Top 10 Thanksgiving Destination Index named New York City the No. 1 domestic destination for travelers for the second year in a row, followed by Seattle; Orlando, Fla.; Boston; Atlanta; Phoenix; Los Angeles; Dallas; Washington, D.C.; and Fort. Lauderdale, Fla.

For the third year in a row, Cancun topped the international list of most-booked destinations. Rounding out the top 10 list are San Jose del Cabo and Puerta Vallarta, Mexico; London; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Oranjestad, Aruba; Paris; and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.
