Over the last few years, Scottsdale, Ariz., has firmly secured its reputation as a dreamy desert hot spot. And that’s not just because its daytime temperatures soar into the triple digits during the summer months — rather, it’s due to its surge in popularity as a host destination for bachelor and bachelorette parties; its wide variety of offerings (that go beyond the spa resorts and golf courses the city is famous for); and its impressive roster of tours and attractions.

And, as avid travelers know, the best way to truly experience a destination is through the eyes of its locals. Here, Denise Rosales, co-owner and founder of Native Art Market in Old Town Scottsdale, gives us her take on the best ways to experience her home.

The best time to visit Scottsdale is: November through March, the perfect weather season. Although I believe every day is the best time to experience Scottsdale.

A perfect day in Scottsdale is sure to include: Old Town Scottsdale. Have brunch at Jojo Coffeehouse, which offers mimosas or coffee flights with Southern charm, then go shopping and have dinner near the Arizona Canal, off the 5th Avenue Shopping District. Experience nightlife in the Entertainment District, which has many bars and clubs side-by-side.

The city’s best-kept tourism secret is: An electric cart ride with tour operator JoyRidesAZ. Local tours include Instagrammable spots, shopping opportunities and more.

To beat the heat, make sure you head to: Luxe Bar for a luxury ice cream and a visually appealing aesthetic. Or, hit up Scottsdale Fashion Square, a mall with many luxury brands to shop from.

When it’s time to catch some Zs, rest your head for the night at: The W Scottsdale. It comes complete with a large pool and a lounge, and it’s right in the heart of the Entertainment District for nightlife.

If you have a grumbling stomach, be sure to try: Los Olivos in Old Town, which serves authentic Mexican food with a great patio. Or try Hope’s Frybread, an indigenous Navajo eatery located about 20 minutes away in Downtown Mesa.

If you’re looking for something special to bring home, check out: My company! Native Art Market, the first and only Indigenous gallery in Old Town Scottsdale, with more than 400 Native-owned small businesses represented. The space was created so our Native communities had a safe place to share their culture and art.

Looking for that perfect photo op? You’ll find it at: The Merchantile of Scottsdale. This boutique arts and crafts market has a desert selfie station and features work by more than 200 Arizona artisans.
