From Sept. 19-22, more than 850 delegates representing 60 countries attended the Adventure Travel Trade Association’s (ATTA) Adventure Travel World Summit in Anchorage, Alaska. Delegates included DMCs, tour operators, media, tourism boards and travel agents — who made their biggest dent on the conference in its history.
Thirty-one agents attended, and two sessions dedicated to working with travel agents — moderated by Perry Lungmus, vice president of Travel Leaders’ franchise group — were standing-room only. In addition to business and keynote sessions, travel agents and other attendees also participated in a “Day of Adventure” around Anchorage, as well as pre-summit adventures all around Alaska.
During the conference, ATTA revealed the launch of its new nonprofit arm, the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund. Next year’s summit will take place Oct. 16-19 in Salta, Argentina.
