What
Forbes Travel Guide (FTG) recently published its 62nd annual list of 2020 Star Award winners. Inspectors traveled to 16 countries for the first time, resulting in 107 new Five-Star honorees. Nineteen hotels in London received Five-Star distinctions, making London the No. 1 Five-Star hotel destination for the second year in a row. The Maldives made its debut in the FTG with six Five-Star awards.

Why It Matters
The FTG ratings — which are based on anonymous inspections and objective standards — are a valuable tool for advisors. Now, as the list expands to more destinations (including West Coast cities such as Santa Barbara, Calif.), it has become an even more reliable resource.

Fast Facts
- Forbes Travel Guide ratings are the result of 900 objective criteria collected by incognito inspectors who pay their own way. Find out more about how Forbes Travel Guide comes up with its ratings here.

- New countries included in the FTG ratings are Antigua, the Bahamas, Cambodia, Egypt, Fiji, French Polynesia, India, Jordan, the Maldives, Mauritius, New Zealand, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, the Seychelles and South Africa.
