What
VistaJet, a private membership airline, recently launched VistaPet, which the airline calls the most comprehensive animal travel service in the industry.
Why It Matters
VistaJet created this service in part because it has seen a 104 percent increase in the number of animals on its planes over the last two years. Most airlines have few, if any, onboard services for pets, so VistaJet has stepped in to pamper passengers’ fur babies. In addition to extensive onboard amenities, VistaJet can arrange fear of flying courses for dogs prior to a trip. And, to ease arrival, it has partnered with pet-friendly facilities in destinations around the world.
Fast Facts
- According to VistaJet’s statistics, an estimated 30 million people travel with their pets each year, and one in four VistaJet members flies regularly with their pets. But 75 percent of owners distrust commercial airlines to safely care for their pets.
- VistaJet’s customer service team can advise passengers on the regulations that apply to their flights and destinations when traveling with pets, including details for vaccinations, microchips, certificates and permits.
- VistaJet’s fear of flying courses for dogs is in partnership with The Dog House. The four-week course desensitizes pets to what they could experience during a flight, including the smell of fuel, the sounds of jet engines, cabin air pressure and the movements of air turbulence.
- VistaPet amenities include bio-organic pet food from Rockster; a selection of Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux’s dog treats; Kibble Pet’s Travel Care Kit featuring water-free shampoos and soothing wipes for fur care; and Furzu rope toys. VistaJet will also offer handmade Labbvenn sleep mats onboard.
- Following advice from Clinical Veterinarian Dr Bruce Fogle, VistaJet has developed a balanced menu to keep pets hydrated and healthy.
-Airline regulations require that animals are kept on a leash or in a travel cage for take-off and landing, but during the flight pets can relax by their owner’s side. A full cabin reclean is standard after every pet flight.
