Travel agency Montecito Village Travel (MVT), based in Santa Barbara, Calif., recently announced its support for a travel internship within The University of Georgia’s (UGA) Hospitality Program. As part of the program, students will have the chance to collaborate with seasoned professionals, gain insights and participate in networking opportunities. Interns will also receive practical training in travel management, including customer service, itinerary planning, marketing strategies and industry trend analysis.

Our Analysis: MVT’s Action Is Inspiring, and Practical

The partnership was launched by MVT advisors Gayle Smith and Sam Johnson of Red and Black Travel, a division of Prescription Travel Group. By partnering with Prescription Travel Group and MVT, the UGA Hospitality Program aims to not only equip students with practical skills, but also to foster a deeper understanding of the travel advising industry. It’s inspiring to see an agency take the lead and make the effort to benefit the future of the travel industry — and travel advisors in particular — in such a practical and hands-on way.
