Brain-hungry zombies, robots gone rogue and flying whales — these are just a few of the colorful characters that players will encounter at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino’s new virtual reality (VR) experience in Las Vegas. Called Virtual Reality Powered by Zero Latency, the interactive simulation offers three different games, including the 15-minute Zombie Survival, where players must battle the living dead; the 30-minute Engineerium, featuring an otherworldly landscape that defies the laws of physics; and the 15-minute Singularity, where bots have overtaken a military research space station.
Up to eight people can utilize the 2,000-square-foot arena at a time. To the naked eye, the space looks open and empty, but after donning wireless VR goggles, wearable computers and video-game weaponry, players will be transported into exciting digital worlds. Other participants will appear as full-motion avatars, and strategic teamwork is necessary for completing these challenging missions.
Players must be ages 13 and older, and the experience is located inside MGM’s Level Up entertainment area. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Besides Las Vegas, there are currently seven Zero Latency VR locations in the U.S., including in Orlando, Fla., and Scottsdale, Ariz.
