On your most recent trip to Hawaii, which island did you visit?
We went to Oahu for the first time in years. I have made many connections in Honolulu on the way to the outer islands, but this time we decided to stay in Honolulu and see what the island of Oahu has to offer. What we found was so much more than just sitting in the sun. What did you do on Oahu?
We drove around the entire island, visited the Dole Plantation and drove up to the Nuuanu Pali Lookout for amazing views. We went to some island-style shopping malls and enjoyed the Hawaiian flavor of many of the retail chains we have on the mainland. In the Waikiki area, there are some great places to walk around, and we strolled up and down Waikiki Beach. What was the highlight of the visit? One of the best things we did was take surfing lessons on Waikiki Beach. What a treat! I know there are many places to take surfing lessons in Hawaii, but to take them on that world-famous beach was a real experience, something we’ll always remember. What hotel did you choose? We stayed at the Halekulani, which was a great choice. Although the beach was a little small, we were not in the middle of all the masses. At the same time, we were close enough to walk to most places of interest. The Halekulani’s food and service were terrific, and whenever we returned to the hotel, we felt like we had our own private retreat. What did you learn about Oahu that will help you better sell it to your clients? I learned that while so many people just pass through Honolulu, if they stayed there, they would really benefit from all the things to see and do on Oahu. Clients who have been to Hawaii many times will discover that Honolulu has changed a lot. It’s a great place to spend a few days exploring — or re-exploring. |
