Industry Q&A: Lisa Larson

Apr 26, 2015

In an interview with TravelAge West, Lisa Larson, business development manager for Pleasant Holidays and Journese, shared some of her experiences working with travel agents as well as a few insightful travel tips.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, I take developing long-term relationships with travel agents seriously. I use a variety of business strategies to help them achieve the growth they want, including sales and marketing techniques, promotional events and exceptional customer service practices.

In the past two weeks, I talked to more than 40 agents about tourism growth in Panama, the great value of Europe right now and how many hotels in Hawaii do not have a resort fee.

The key to having a good business relationship with me is to not be afraid to ask me anything — I am here to help.

One of my favorite Pleasant Holidays offerings is American Queen Steamboat Company’s U.S. river cruises. Because I am from the Western U.S., it was fascinating to learn about the history and customs of the South and to experience New Orleans.

Journese Amalfi Coast experiences are also favorites of mine. The sheer beauty of the small villages nestled on the cliffs is breathtaking. Locals grow lemons as large as grapefruits and turn them into limoncello. You can enjoy a glass while gazing into the azure Mediterranean Sea from your villa balcony or a quaint cafe.

One reason I love working with travel agents is their professionalism and knowledge. The agents I work with are the best — they work hard to provide customer service that exceeds clients’ expectations.

This year, travel agents in the West should go out of their way to promote their value. The general population still does not understand what great resources agents can be.
