Q:What kind of clientele generally stays at Kor Hotels, and do you
see that demographic changing much in the future?
A:Kor Hotel Group has primarily two types of guests, corporate
and leisure. On the corporate side, guests choose Kor Hotels due to
the perceived value of each hotel’s location, including the need to
represent a stylish, yet refined, association. On the leisure side
is a segment generally comprised of singles, couples and young
families who come from the industries and backgrounds seen of our
corporate clients.
Q:Why did you make the
decision to launch two hotel brands at the same time?
A:Kor Hotel Group and its successful hotel portfolio saw the
opportunity to expand upon two successful hotels. Both Viceroy and
Tides are recognizable names that until recently were
under-leveraged. Both brand names will complement one another and
will work together to gain a similar affluence for different
audiences.
Q:How will the Tides and Viceroy brands differ?
A:The Tides and Viceroy brands will differ not only in terms of
location, but also design, food and beverage programs and sense of
place. The Tides brand is differentiated from Viceroy through its
focus and association with ocean/sea themes. All Tides hotels will
be coastal hotels, allowing for far less hotels than Viceroy.
Viceroy brand hotels will be primarily urban hotels, with some
resort properties, including one soon to open in Anguilla.
Q:What are the other locations where the Kor Hotel Group is
planning on expanding?
A:There exist a lot of opportunities for Kor to expand to the
major gateway cities of the U.S. Mexico continues to be a
destination where Kor holds interest. The Caribbean is also a
focus, given the affluent U.S. and European markets that the region
draws. Asia and its growing affluence not only among Western
travelers, but also domestically points to a growing demand for
specialized hotels in places like Bali, Phuket and India that Kor
wishes to appease.
