I hear you visited Maui recently. What was the occasion?
I went there with seven of my golf buddies. The trip was all about playing golf, eating well and telling a lot of jokes. We flew on Hawaiian Airlines in first class, and I can tell you that the service we received up front was one of the best in recent memory. Hawaiian did a great job.
Where did you stay?
Most of the group stayed at a private residence above Kaanapali, but I picked the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, just three minutes away from them. It was nice to have a private room! The hotel was bustling and the remodeled room that I stayed in was very comfortable. Plus, it’s hard to beat the oceanfront location for ease of walking along the famed Kaanapali Beach.
Where did you golf?
We played two rounds at the Bay and Plantation courses at Kapalua Resort, and one round at Kaanapali North. The North is my favorite of the two courses in Kaanapali, because recent improvements there have had time to mature very nicely. But what I really liked was the aloha spirit of the staff at the Kaanapali courses. Without exception everyone was congenial, went out of their way to assist with questions and left me with the impression that they were happy to see me.
