Puerto Vallarta Renovation Project Makes Progress

Mar 18, 2013

Puerto Vallarta has been enacting an urban renewal plan over the past several years and has recently reopened one of the Southside’s most iconic landmarks after a transformation. The Los Muertos Port, located in downtown, was reopened in January following a $2.4 million makeover. Designed by Mexican architect Jesus Torres Vega, the new port features 2,182 square feet of surface, including a pedestrian-friendly zone, a waterfront promenade, scenic lighting and a landing dock that can hold up to six medium-size boats, most of which can be used to bring guests to the private beaches located around Banderas Bay.

“This icon of the city is a reflection of the modern and diverse products found in Puerto Vallarta. It is a sign of the thirst the city has for projects that will update and make Puerto Vallarta the best city to visit in the Pacific,” said Ramon Guerrero Martinez, Puerto Vallarta’s Mayor.

Along with the port, the Los Muertos Pier also reopened in January, featuring a walkway with safety railings and lighting that leads to a roundabout with a sail at its center. The neighborhood’s popular Olas Altas Street has undergone accompanying repairs, including new sidewalks with colorful tiles and improved building facades, lighting and surveillance. www.visitpuertovallarta.com
