Anticipation is always a big part of adventure travel — though perhaps never more so than when disembarking from Adventure Canada’s Ocean Endeavour ship to explore Greenland and Canada’s High Arctic by Zodiac.
To take this photograph of Disko Bay, which is located on Greenland’s western coast, I used a Nikon D4 camera with a 24-70mm lens set to 1/1000th of a second, an aperture of f/11 and ISO 100. The fast shutter speed was needed to prevent camera shake caused by shooting from a Zodiac. Even when taking photos from the decks of large cruise ships, I use a fast shutter speed because not only do ships move, but the engines also cause a constant vibration.
