China is one of the largest countries in the world with a long,
rich history, a promising future and an air of mystery. While
seeing its many faces could prove to be an overwhelming task, Ritz
Tours may have an answer with its current tour offering, 18-day
Majestic Yangtze River Excursion (upstream version), which offers a
little bit of everything at a reasonable price.
Starting at $2,999 per person, the Majestic Yangtze tour sets
out from Los Angeles or San Francisco ($3,149 from New York’s JFK)
before arriving in Beijing. Guests will visit some of the most
popular tourist attractions in the region: Tiananmen Square, The
Forbidden City and the Emperor’s Summer Palace, the Ming Tomb
Museum, the Temple of Heaven and, of course, the Great Wall.
Upon arrival in Shanghai, visitors will discover a vibrant urban
scene, and great shopping with stops including Yu Gardens and
Nanjing Road plus entertainment by China’s famed acrobats prior to
boarding a Victoria Cruise ship and excursion along the Yangtze
River.
Traveling between Chongqing and Yichang, this river cruise
passes through the Three Gorges as Victoria Cruises presents a wide
variety of lectures, demonstrations and entertainment.
After the Yangtze, a stay in Xian features Emperor Qin Shi
Huang’s Terra Cotta Warriors, discovered nearly 2,200 years after
original burial with the Emperor Huang. Other stops include the
excavation site, Big Wild Goose Pagoda and a visit to the Ancient
City Wall.
The historic portion of the tour finishes with a scenic voyage
down the Li River. The Li passes through Bamboo groves, Elephant
Trunk Hill and Reed Flute Cave.
This full adventure concludes in Hong Kong for a three-day
stint. An organized tour of the city hits Stanley Market, Repulse
Bay, Aberdeen’s Floating Community and some down time for personal
exploration of what has been described as the “Jewel of the
Orient.”
