Bora Bora Cruises will launch two new yachts this summer for luxury
weeklong cruises to four Polynesian islands. The new 70-meter
yachts, the Tia Moana and the Tu Moana, have 37 staterooms each,
and can carry a maximum of 74 guests and one crew member per cabin,
according to Richard Hall, the company’s marketing director.
Beginning in June, both yachts will leave Bora Bora on Monday
mornings to explore lagoons on Bora Bora, Taha’a, Raiatea and
Huahine, returning Sunday evenings. As both ships will depart from
Bora Bora at the same time, there will be flexibility for groups
and conferences. Full-boat charters are also available. “With 30
people, you can take over the whole thing,” Hall said. Staterooms
for seven-day, six-night cruises are $2,800 to $4,600. The yachts’
hulls are specially designed to draw only two meters of water,
allowing access to the islands’ shallow lagoons, where most of the
trip will be spent. Hall said the staterooms will have original
artwork on the walls, full-size windows, flat-screen TVs and DVD
players. The kitchens will be managed by Cuisiniers de France, a
culinary association founded in 1842. “We don’t do buffets,” Hall
said. Special touches will include breakfast served on tables that
are actually set in the warm lagoon waters, and movies shown on a
deserted island. Bora Bora now operates the Haumana, a name that
means “spirit of peace” in the Tahitian language, a 30-meter
catamaran with 19 cabins that sails three-and four-night cruises
from Bora Bora. 689-45-10-66; www.boraboracruises. c
