Marking the early completion of the Three Gorges Dam, Victoria
Cruises is offering 30 percent off all Yangtze cruise itineraries
in July and August.
The dam, the largest engineering project of its kind, will control
the Yangtze River and the floods that have impacted the river basin
each year. The resulting higher water levels will eventually allow
Victoria Cruises to reach parts of the Yangtze River that were
previously not accessible.
Eventually, visitors will be able to travel further into the Small
Three Gorges and go upstream on the Yangtze tributaries Daning and
Shennong Rivers. Victoria Cruises said it already is researching
new sightseeing opportunities, previously not accessible, for after
the water levels rise.
A favorite among travelers, the discount applies to the
five-day/four-night Yichang-Chongqing Three Gorges Highlights
cruise, as well as the four-day/three-night AmongChongqing-Yichang
program.
The tours provide an opportunity to sail through the valleys that
comprise the Three Gorges as well as a tour of the Three Gorges Dam
Site. Discounted prices start at $542.50 and include cabin, meals,
entertainment, lectures and port taxes.
The discount also applies to the eight-day/seven-night Three
Gorges Explorer roundtrip program that offers different daily shore
excursions in each direction in order to showcase an in-depth
Yangtze River experience from the Three Gorges and Three Gorges Dam
project to old cities steeped in historical treasures and new
cities built to accommodate those people who relocated because of
the rising Yangtze waters. Discounted prices start at $980.
Discounted prices also start at $980 for the Grand Yangtze
Discovery tours Chongqing-Shanghai (seven days/six nights) and
Shanghai-Chongqing (nine days/eight nights) that in addition to the
Three Gorges stop at Wuhan, Mt. Huangshan and Nanjing. Shore
excursions are also discounted at 30 percent off and start at $56
per person (which is added on to the cost of the cruise).
All specials are applicable to standard cabins only. Rates are per
