Anguilla plays it cool. It ambles along, refining its tourism offerings at a relaxed pace, leaving the mega-resort developments and huge infrastructure projects to other destinations in the Caribbean. Therein lies Anguilla’s appeal, as it continues to offer the subtle pleasures that make up a memorable Caribbean vacation. In the months to come, Anguilla will unveil hotel enhancements and upgrades, new adventure excursions and attractive promotions.

After a two year closure, Malliouhana Hotel & Spa is on track to reopen in late 2013. The iconic resort overlooking Meads Bay and Turtle Cove will be rebranded and managed by Auberge Resorts. Auberge will lend its experience in luxury resort management and marketing to the 55-room resort, which is under new ownership. Plans call for a top-to-bottom design refresh and enhancement.

Cap Juluca has undergone extensive room upgrades and property enhancements. The resort’s 67 guestrooms located in 15 exclusive villas have been redone and outfitted with new room amenities including new linens and furniture. Cap Juluca also recently added Spice Lounge, a waterfront bar with live music, dancing and a global tapas menu. Maundays Bar, the resort’s signature cocktail lounge, and Blue, the resort’s open-air casual beachfront bistro, have both undergone a redesign to provide ocean views.

Shoal Bay Villas has recently undergone an extensive property expansion and upgrade. The boutique beachfront hotel has nearly doubled its size by adding 10 new deluxe rooms as well as a fitness center and a spa treatment room. The family owned and operated hotel now offers upgraded free Wi-Fi access throughout the property and flat-screen televisions in every room.
