The tiny island of Dominica expects to see a boost to tourism now that its international airport, Melville Hall Airport (DOM), can begin receiving night flights. The changes will come in several steps.
Currently, small aircraft are allowed to land until the extended hour of 10 p.m. at DOM. Benoit Bardouille, executive director of the Dominica Air and Seaport Authority, said that he expects the airport will receive clearance for larger aircraft within the next six months. Bardouille also noted that the European Union, Venezuela and the Dominica government partnered to make airport upgrades to the tune of $100 million.
