Going Gourmet at Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts frequently cites a commitment to high-end cuisine — and a stay at the all-inclusive, adults-only Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, proves that the company delivers on that promise.

The beautiful beachfront resort regularly serves up exceptional fine-dining experiences and has been participating in a special Iberostar culinary series, adding to the appeal of its luxurious amenities and dedicated service.

Iberostarchef on Tour
To highlight the brand’s culinary emphasis, Iberostar has put fine dining in the spotlight through the ambitious Iberostarchef on Tour program. Running from October 2014 through October of this year, the initiative brings renowned Spanish chefs to Iberostar hotels in the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico each month to serve special haute-cuisine dinners. This July, Chef Jordi Cruz — who was the second youngest chef in the world to gain a Michelin star and now holds a total of four — hosted the latest dinner events in the series, including a stunning meal at Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro.

Focused on Food
Although the Iberostarchef on Tour program is not hosted for hotel guests, visitors to Grand Hotel Bavaro (and other brand properties) still benefit from it. The program brings the hotels’ chefs together with Michelin-starred chefs to learn and innovate within their own kitchens, influencing the everyday cuisine served at the resorts.

Of course, the quality of the food at Iberostar properties is already high, thanks to the company’s long-standing emphasis on providing gourmet experiences for guests, particularly at Iberostar Grand Collection hotels. At Grand Hotel Bavaro, dining comes in many fine options, with five specialty restaurants and a five-star buffet. The a la carte restaurants serve Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean and French-inspired cuisine, as well as steakhouse fare. Each offers signature dishes with international and local flavors — such as surf and turf with filet and Caribbean lobster — all thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. In addition, gourmet room service is available 24 hours a day.

Grand Service and Features
But high-end cuisine isn’t the only impressive feature of Grand Hotel Bavaro. The property is part of Iberostar’s highest tier of hotels, Grand Collection, a standard that is evident all around the resort. The impeccably maintained grounds include sparkling teak decks winding through beautifully manicured gardens and an expansive blue lagoon. Small details enhance the feeling of a tropical oasis, from a group of resident flamingos to an abundance of perfectly plush patio furniture.

The hotel’s 273 rooms are available in a variety of categories, including 12 oceanfront suites — complete with Grand Star Service perks such as luggage unpacking and breakfast in bed — and 19 swim-out Suites with semi-private pools.

Iberostar is highly dedicated to impeccable service, and all of the resort’s guestrooms come with 24-hour butler service to help guests make dinner reservations, personalize their minibar selection, draw rose-petal baths and otherwise enhance their stay. In fact, all around the resort, it is clear that the hotel’s staff takes guest satisfaction seriously. Not only was I met with smiles and greetings wherever I went, but everyone from the concierge desk to room service went out of their way to accommodate my every request.

Other features of the property include three pools, a swim-up bar, a two-story spa and a top-of-the-line fitness center with ocean views. In addition, the hotel is part of a larger Iberostar complex with three other resorts, a casino, a nightclub and a golf course. Agents booking group trips to Punta Cana can take advantage of this setup by sending families to the adjacent resorts and booking couples at Grand Hotel Bavaro, as Grand guests enjoy access to all the hotels in the complex.

Rates at Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro vary by season and room category.
