Jamaica Honeymoons

Aug 09, 2011

Year-after-year, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has proved its value to travel agents. Now the JTB has tweaked its ability to help agents plan honeymoon travel for their Jamaica-bound clients through the establishment of an official JTB wedding and honeymoon concierge. Wendy, the concierge, can help travel agents handle their clients’ plans for destination weddings and honeymoons. Agents can get to know Jamaica’s love guru via Twitter at: www.twitter.com/weddingsinja.

In addition to Wendy, agents booking romance travel to Jamaica also have the option of AMResort’s all-inclusive Secrets product.

The side-by-side resorts Secrets St. James and Secrets Wild Orchid are fairly new, having debuted in March 2010. Located on Jamaica’s Northwest coast in Montego Bay, the properties offer adults an extra measure of romance in a luxury setting. The two properties blend seamlessly with each other, although the ambience at each resort is slightly different, with Secrets St. James possessing a slightly more refined British colonial ambience and Secrets Wild Orchid offering a more vibrant, social atmosphere. The two properties share a common area called The Promenade. It features several bars, lounges and gourmet a la carte restaurants, lavish spas with oceanfront massage cabanas, a state-of-the-art, open-air theater and a number of activities.

Secrets St. James and Secrets Wild Orchid each contain 350 suites with in-room amenities including oversized four-poster beds, full entertainment systems complete with LCD, flat-screen televisions and CD/DVD players, Jacuzzis, private furnished balconies, luxurious bath products and 24-hour room service.

The resorts have a variety of wedding packages, ranging from $899 to $2,799. The Secrets Wedding in Paradise Package is available for $899 or is complimentary when booking a Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View or higher category room for at least seven nights or if five rooms, of any category, are booked for at least three nights. This package also applies for renewal of vows ceremony.

The package features a justice of the peace or minister; a dedicated on-site wedding coordinator; preparation of wedding attire; complimentary room for the groom the night before the wedding (based on availability); a bride’s bouquet and a groom’s boutonniere; a wedding cake and sparkling wine for 10 guests; romantic nightly turn-down service; a 15 percent discount on all spa treatments (product purchases not included); and a late check-out for the bride and the groom.
