Rendezvous Redux

Oct 07, 2009

St. Lucia has earned a reputation for being one of the Caribbean’s most romantic islands. One of the island’s celebrated resorts catering to couples is the 100-room Rendezvous resort. The Barnard family, owners and operators of Rendezvous and its parent company SunSwept Resorts, are hip deep in the refurbishment and expansion of Rendezvous (an upgrade costing approximately $15 million), with the hotel poised to reopen on Oct. 18.

“These are challenging times for the hotel industry world-wide and we are fortunate to have the resources to further improve our property prior to the upcoming winter season,” said Andrew Barnard, marketing director of SunSwept Resorts.

Extensive upgrades to the property include the fully redesigned Terrace Restaurant featuring a refurbished buffet area and a new beach deck for expanded water’s edge dining. The reception and porte-cochere areas of the resort are also getting an upgrade. Oceanfront accommodations will be fitted with new windows and French doors.

Brand new features at the hotel include a new gym and a full-service spa which will offer a selection of treatments and therapies similar to sister property’s The Oasis Spa at The Body Holiday LeSport, also on St. Lucia. Guests of Rendezvous can also take advantage of the all-inclusive plan’s free dining-exchange privileges with nearby The Body Holiday LeSport Resort.

A new free-form natural pool with a sweeping river is also being added to Rendezvous property. The new pool will feature waiter service, similar to the resort’s popular waiter service at the beach. Rendezvous will also unveil a new wedding concierge parlor, a full-service beauty salon and a new hotel library offering loaner and exchange books.

The boutique resort is situated on a two-mile stretch of Malabar Beach near St. Lucia’s capital city of Castries. The all-inclusive resort has 36 Garden View rooms; 24 Verandah Suites; eight Seaside Suites; 21 Luxury Ocean Front Rooms; eight Ocean Front Cottages and three Luxury Ocean Front Suites. Resort features include two restaurants, three fresh-water swimming pools, and a variety of land and water activities.
