Parque de las Ciencias, one of Puerto Rico’s longest-running family-friendly attractions has reopened after a seven-year closure, following a $20 million transformation.
First opened in the early 1980s, the Parque de las Ciencias by ToroVerde officially reopens today as a reimagined science and cultural park with 25 attractions, including a museum developed in collaboration with NASA, an Aerospace Institute with a gyroscope, virtual reality flying experiences and multiple interactive exhibits.
Additional highlights include a re-creation of a traditional Puerto Rican town, a multi-sensory Dark Ride experience and an indigenous history museum. Limited-time exhibits include several Guinness World Records pavilions, which are in place through December, and the Casa del Cuco, a spook house attraction open through Halloween.
The park is operated by ToroVerde, a company that owns ToroVerde Adventure Park in Orocovis, Puerto Rico.
The redesign of Parque de las Ciencias has improved the facility’s accessibility, according to the company, with sensory-friendly spaces that accommodate visitors with different needs. Culinary offerings include the Sugar Lab, which specializes in sweet treats, and Yunque Rainforest Cafe, part of which is set beneath a large, planetarium-style projector dome. Positioned as both a cultural and educational hub, Parque de las Ciencias aims to attract locals and visitors alike, with entertainment and learning experiences for all ages.
Daytime admission tickets cost $25. The park is located in Bayamon, in the San Juan metropolitan area, adjacent to the Hyatt Place Bayamon.
“We are thrilled to reopen Parque de las Ciencias as a state-of-the-art facility that combines fun and learning in a unique setting,” said said Jorge Jorge, president and CEO of ToroVerde.“Our goal is to inspire curiosity and innovation among visitors of all ages, and we are excited to welcome everyone to experience this incredible transformation.”
