Carnival Cruise Lines’ new Carnival Freedom will operate two
transatlantic crossings in 2008. Currently in the final stages of
construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the 110,000-ton
Carnival Freedom will debut in Europe March 5, 2007.
Carnival Freedom’s two transatlantic voyages include a 14-day
crossing departing Miami April 26, 2008 and a 16-day voyage
departing Rome
(Civitavecchia) November 6, 2008. The 14-day crossing will arrive
in Rome on May 10, 2008. The itinerary features daylong calls at
St.
Maarten, Netherlands Antilles; Funchal (Madeira), Portugal;
Malaga, Spain; and Livorno, Italy. The voyage will serve to
position Carnival Freedom for its previously announced 2008
European cruise season operating May October.
The 16-day transatlantic crossing will depart Rome on November 6
and arrive in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., November 22, 2008. The journey
includes calls at Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Malaga, Spain;
Las Palmas, Canary Islands Carnival’s first call at this scenic
destination; and St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles.
One of the largest cruise ships at sea, Carnival Freedom will
offer innovative facilities and features that include a
270-square-foot LED screen on Lido deck displaying movies, concerts
and other programming, along with “100 percent bow-to-stern”
wireless Internet access, and cell phone service. The ship also
features a 13,300-square-foot health and fitness center and four
swimming pools.
Prices for the 14-day crossing begin at $699 per person and $849
per person for the 16-day crossing. Special rates for third and
fourth guests staying in the same stateroom, along with round-trip
air supplements, are also available.
