Explore 5,000 Years of History

Mar 15, 2012

Created by the founder of Orient Lines and inspired by The Middle Sea, authored by Lord John Julius Norwich, Voyages to Antiquity offers sophisticated travelers an unparalleled destination immersion and educational experience. Unique cruise-tours combine the very best in cultural travel in a tranquil, informal atmosphere and explore the classical civilizations of the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Aegean and Black seas, plus North Africa, the Red Sea, India and the Far East.

Cruise-Tours & Included Hotel Stays
All port-intensive itineraries have been meticulously planned to reveal as much as possible of the extraordinary wealth of natural beauty and classical history that the Mediterranean region and Far East have to offer.  From the elegance of ancient Greek architecture to the monumental splendor of Roman cities to the temples and pagodas of Southeast Asia, the aim is to bring to life the history, art and culture of these inspiring classical civilizations.

To further enhance the destination experience, many itineraries are designed as cruise-tours featuring pre- and/or post-cruise hotel stays in cities such as Rome, Athens, Istanbul, Delhi, Agra, Colombo, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Bali included in the fares. Hotel stays include sightseeing and transfers to and from the airport and/or ship. Cruise-tour programs appeal to experienced cruisers, land tour clients and travelers with affinities for ancient history, culture, antiquities, art and archaeology and adventure travel. Guests have the flexibility to opt out of the hotel stays and receive credit against their cruise fare.

These in-depth experiences are fully complemented by an outstanding shore excursion program included in all major ports and land extensions that include a spectacular "Golden Triangle" tour in India and a 2-day visit to the wonder of the temples of Angkor. The exclusive use of QuietVox headsets on excursions optimizes guests’ experiences as they remain tuned into the guide’s interestingly detailed descriptions while free to wander and explore at their own pace.

Inspired Journeys and Expert Lectures
The remarkable onboard lecture program incorporates celebrated speakers and lecturers carefully selected for their in-depth knowledge of the Ancient World, providing an enriching guest experience.  Lecturers hail from prestigious universities and museums around the world and offer unique perspectives about the art, history and culture of the ancient civilizations explored on Voyages to Antiquity itineraries. They bring to life the glory of the Mediterranean, India and Far East as it was thousands of years ago. Not merely lecturers, the experts participate in shoreside excursions, host intimate gatherings on board and are readily available to discuss the fascinating sites of the day over coffee or cocktails. Assisting speakers aboard ship and ashore is a team of young, keen classical history graduates.

Boutique Style, Small Ship Cruising
Prior to her inaugural season in 2010, the 4-star, premium class Aegean Odyssey was extensively redesigned to accommodate just 350 guests (she originally carried 570) in a relaxed atmosphere of boutique-style cruising.  Guests benefit from small ship cruising with more ports per itinerary, extra time in port and an up close and personal destination experience. She offers the personal service and intimate surroundings of a small ship and has the ability to visit ports that are too small for larger vessels, navigate close to scenic islands of the Adriatic and Mediterranean, as well as berth upriver in the heart of Bangkok, Yangon and Ho Chi Minh City. Special features include open-seating dining, multiple dining options, continental cuisine enhanced with regional foods and wines, and an extensive library.

Single Friendly
Voyages to Antiquity welcomes guests traveling alone with 24 dedicated single occupancy cabins in a variety of inside, outside and balcony categories on Aegean Odyssey.  Single supplements on double occupancy cabins range from just 25%-75%; and many departures feature no single supplement for the cruise portion of the tour.

Extraordinary Value
Extraordinary value is a hallmark, offering a virtually all-inclusive product. Cruise fares from $3,795 per person include pre- and/or post-cruise hotel stays on many itineraries; shore excursions with complimentary bottled water; land extensions in Asia; gratuities to shipboard staff; wine, beer and soft drinks at dinner each evening on board. Roundtrip air is $595 for Mediterranean and $995-$1,195 for Far East, inclusive of all taxes and fees. For information and reservations, call 877-398-1460. www.voyagestoantiquity.com
