Holland America Line’s newest vessel, the Noordam, will sail her
maiden voyage from New York in 2006. The 81,769-ton,
1,848-passenger Noordam is scheduled for delivery in January 2006.
She is the fourth and last in the line’s series of Vista class
ships. Nearly 70 percent of the ship’s staterooms will feature
verandas, and 85 percent of her staterooms will offer ocean views.
Additionally, the ship has been built with “Signature of
Excellence” amenities already in place, such as Euro-top mattresses
and flat panel TV and DVD players in all cabins.
The Noordam will sail a series of 11 cruises from New York to
the Caribbean, beginning with her maiden voyage on Feb.22, 2006.
That cruise will feature a 10-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary with
calls in Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; Tortola, British Virgin
Islands; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands;
and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Subsequent departures for winter/spring
take place on Mar. 15, and Apr. 5. Fall cruises will depart Oct.
25, Nov.15, and Dec. 6 and 27, 2006.
Noordam will also sail an 11-day Southern Caribbean itinerary,
with calls in Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, U.S.
Virgin Islands; Roseau, Dominica; Bridgetown, Barbados;
Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dates for
those sailings are Mar. 4 and 25, 2006. Fall cruises sail on Oct.
14; Nov. 4 and 25; and Dec. 16, 2006.
