Windstar Cruises’ motor sailing yacht, the Wind Surf, will ply
new waters in the Caribbean this winter. The 308-passenger Wind
Surf’s roundtrip itineraries from Bridgetown, Barbados, will
explore secluded islands and unique ports of call in the
Grenadines, St. Barthelemy, Tobago, Bequia, St. Martin and
Grenada.
From December 2005 to April 2006, the Wind Surf will offer 17
cruises from Bridgetown, including two holiday cruises departing
Dec. 18 and Dec. 28. The vessel’s seven-day itineraries have been
specially designed to allow guests to combine two back to back
cruises into a 14-day cruise with no repeating ports of call.
Northbound from Bridgetown, the Wind Surf’s itineraries will
feature Nevis, St. Martin, St. Barts, Guadaloupe, Iles des Saintes
and Pigeon Island (St. Lucia). The southbound itinerary will call
in Tobago, Grenada, Bequia, Roseau and Cabrits (Dominica), and
Mayreau (Grenadines).
While at anchor, the Wind Surf’s water sports platform opens so
that guests can enjoy sailboards, sailboats, kayaks, water skis, as
well as rides on a “banana boat.” Snorkeling equipment is
complimentary, and can be checked out for the week.
Windstar’s staff of PADI-certified instructors will lead dives
on underwater adventures featuring some of the best sites in the
region, such as Pigeon Island. Dives are available for a fee for
both beginners and experienced divers. Windstar’s Discover Scuba
program teaches diving basics in a classroom and pool session
followed by an open water dive.
