Ship Preview: MSC Cruises’ MSC World Asia

MSC Cruises’ World Class category of ships began with MSC World Europa and MSC World America. Next on the horizon is MSC World Asia, which is set to debut in December of 2026.

The cruise line has named each World Class vessel after a different continent “to reflect the fact that MSC Cruises sails to every corner of the globe and offers an unparalleled choice of destinations,” according to the company.

Like the rest of the fleet, MSC World Asia will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). It will sail the Western Mediterranean in 2026-2027 and staterooms are already on sale.

“MSC World Asia will further enhance our lineup in the region, giving guests even more choice of embarkation ports and itineraries for their winter escape or summer getaways,” said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises. “As with each of our new ships, we’ll introduce innovative new concepts, venues and services to deliver the ultimate cruise experience for our guests.”

Reflecting its name, World Asia will exhibit subtle design details that nod to Asian cultures, art and landscapes. Structurally, it will continue the signature vertical bow and Y-shaped superstructure at the stern present on other World Class ships.

Public Spaces Onboard World Asia

Expected districts and other public venues onboard World Asia will include an MSC Yacht Club ship-within-a-ship complex, clubs and facilities dedicated to young cruisers from infants up to 17 years old, comprehensive wellness and fitness areas, seven pools, 13 whirlpools and world-class live entertainment extending to the World Theatre, World Promenade and Panorama Lounge.

Dining

Clients will also be able to dine at more than 40 onboard bars, lounges and restaurants. Specialty dining venues will include the Butcher’s Cut steakhouse, Hola! Tacos & Cantina and Kaito Sushi and Teppanyaki. Bar and lounge options will include the classic Masters of the Sea pub and onboard micro-brewery, as well as the Coffee Emporium.

Two new concepts will include a Mediterranean restaurant (still to be detailed) and a three-pronged, pan-Asian specialty venue featuring cuisine from Singapore, Thailand, Laos, South China, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Positioned along the ship’s alfresco aft promenade, the venue will combine a Southeast Asian sit-down specialty restaurant, a complimentary grab-and-go window and a separate bar and lounge area.

“With this new three-in-one venue, we are inviting guests to explore one of the world’s most exciting food cultures in a way that is vibrant, welcoming and full of flavor,” said Stephane Franchini, senior director food and beverage product at MSC Cruises. "From the diverse range of dishes to the atmosphere of the space and the expertise of chefs Xiao Wang and Luca Cesarini, every detail has been carefully designed to create a truly immersive culinary journey. It reflects our ambition to offer greater choice, seamless convenience and more memorable moments through food.”

The casual specialty restaurant component will highlight the culinary likes of Singapore-style shrimp, shiitake mushroom fried rice and other wok-fired specialties, all enjoyed from indoor seating or a rooftop terrace. The bar and lounge will further feature signature cocktails, from jasmine mojitos and matcha coladas to rose and strawberry daiquiris, and regional beers such as Tsingtao, Chang and Bintang. And the free on-the-go options will extend to street food dishes such as seafood balls, bao buns and more.

MSC Yacht Club Suites

The MSC Yacht Club onboard MSC World Asia will offer the greatest selection of available suites in the fleet, including the new Royal Duplex Suite. This accommodation will measure 570 square feet, divided across two decks and linked by a spiral staircase. Clients can expect a pair of marble-clad bathrooms (one with a shower and the other with a bathtub); the upper level will include a bedroom with a queen-size bed that can split into two single beds, and the lower level will have an extra bedroom featuring two single bunk beds, making it ideal for families. The suite will also boast a living area with another sofa bed, plus a 118-square-foot balcony with hot tub and outside seating.

Meanwhile, other returning suite categories will extend to multi-room Owner Suites (measuring more than 1,600 square feet), Royal Suites with hot tubs, Duplex Suites with hot tubs, regular Duplex Suites, Deluxe Suites and Interior Suites.

Additional Activities

The Harbour outdoor park for families will also return, but in a redesigned fashion. Reflecting the theme of the ship, the Asian-inspired space will again include the Cliffhanger swing ride that cantilevers 164 feet over the sea — a first for Europe — in addition to an adjacent dual-level, 6,210-square-foot Adventure Trail ropes course with Sky Rails and a zipline.

The Harbour Aquapark, with revised colors to match, will consist of a 90-degree U Drop water slide, a raft slide and Twin Racer dueling body slides. The Harbour Bar & Bites will serve up grab-and-go fare in between exertions. The Play Deck, meanwhile, will be a new all-ages interactive outdoor space for families.

Elsewhere, the Aqua Deck District will feature a new design for its outdoor Manila Bay & Pearl Lagoon Bar and indoor Coral Cove & Coral Bar sections. The sunny former will consist of a pool deck with more shade and seating options bounding with all-day activities, and the latter will be an all-weather, glass-enclosed alternative with an updated layout themed to the ocean and underwater ecosystem.

A new installment of MSC's thrilling, 12-deck dry slide (set to be the longest at sea, measuring in at 266.7 feet) — Tree of Life @ The Spiral — will be inspired by Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay.

The double-decker Luna Park will again be featured on World Asia as a multipurpose entertainment venue — but this time, with a freshly designed bar dedicated to everything from youth events to evening nightclub DJ sets and other interactive parties. Three original game shows will be showcased: Code Breakers (fast-paced puzzle fun), Labyrinth (strategically testing smarts) and Chart Toppers (a multi-gen music quiz).

The ship will also feature an all-new area, The Clubhouse, described by the line as “a vibrant, retro-inspired space where families come together for high-energy fun and creative play.” It will combine traditional table games and the Lego Family Zone with bumper cars, basketball and roller skating.

More returning favorites will include partnerships with Guinness World Records and Master Chef, while Out of Control will be a new obstacle challenge experience at the sports court.

Of course, the youngest cruisers will still have the Doremiland kids’ club, with more than 10,000 square feet dedicated to different ages: Baby Club, a collaboration with Chicco, plus Junior and Teens clubs. There will also be Lego-themed rooms and a special MSC Formula Racer simulator.

Also just for teens will be Yuna, an AI avatar host in charge of the Yuna K-Pop Party and the Yuna Boogie Roller Party. The age group will also have their own versions of the aforementioned Code Breakers, Chart Toppers and Labyrinth game shows to participate in.

Sustainability Efforts

Like the others ships in this class, World Asia will be powered by renewable LNG. The ship will also be outfitted for cold ironing, which allows for shore power connectivity with its engines turned off, thereby reducing regional emissions.

Other smart technologies to reduce energy and water use include an advanced onboard wastewater treatment plant, an onboard recycling management plant and next-gen propulsion pods designed to minimize noises that impact marine life.

World Asia Itineraries

On Dec. 4, 2026, World Asia will set sail on its maiden Mediterranean route. The seven-day itinerary will take cruisers to Barcelona, Spain; Marseille, France; Valletta, Malta; and Genoa, Civitavecchia (for Rome) and Messina, Italy. These same ports will be highlighted throughout World Asia’s 2026-2027 winter season, and accessible embarkation will be available in each port.

Then, in the summer of 2027, the ship will navigate to Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Messina, Valletta and Naples, Italy, again on weeklong voyages.
