Silversea Culinary and Wine Cruises

Mar 13, 2007

Silversea Cruises has announced six Culinary Arts and five Wine Series voyages for 2007. The cruises will showcase the artistry of award-winning chefs from top dining establishments from around the

world, including Relais & Châteaux Relais Gourmands, the distinguished international association of boutique hotels and restaurants. The wine cruises will feature experts from an array of

prestigious estates and wineries.

On the culinary sailings, guest chefs will display their talents during informative and entertaining cooking demonstrations. Guests can taste and learn firsthand the secrets of enticing signature dishes created by award-winning chefs like Anne Desjardins, the CAA/AAA Four Diamond chef/owner of L'Eau à La Bouche in Ste-Adèle, Québec; Cal Stamenov, executive chef of Marinus, the Mobil Four-Star restaurant at

Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley, California; and Gale Gand, host of Food Network's Sweet Dreams cooking show and executive pastry chef and partner of Chicago’s Tru, a Mobil Four Star and AAA Five Diamond restaurant. The Culinary Arts enrichment voyages also feature escorted trips to international markets, food and wine pairings, creative regional dishes, and a five-course grand gourmet dinner. Throughout these special voyages, the featured guest chef and Silversea’s

executive chef are on hand to share their culinary expertise and answer

any questions.

Travelers with a passion for fine wines will enjoy sampling some of the world’s finest vintages and visiting world-famous wineries, cellars and vineyards aboard five wine-themed cruises. Top experts such as

David Elswood, international head of the wine department at Christie's,the world's oldest auctioneer of fine wines, and Eduardo Pulenta, Jr. of the award-winning Pulenta Estate, one of Argentina's hottest new

winemakers, will be on board to provide enriching lectures, conduct special tastings of vintage blends and guide Silversea’s guests on excursions to celebrated wineries and vineyards in select ports of call.

Silversea Cruises offers guests large-ship amenities aboard four intimate vessels, Silver Cloud, Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, and Silver Whisper, all designed to offer an atmosphere of conviviality and casual

elegance. For the ninth year, Silversea was named "Number One" small-ship line in the 2005 "Readers' Choice" survey conducted by Condé Nast Traveler magazine.  For the sixth time, Silversea was selected

"World's Best" small-ship line in the 2004 Travel + Leisure reader's poll.

The Culinary Arts cruises range from 6-9 days, and feature itineraries in the Mediterranean and Baltic. The Wine Series cruises range from seven to elevan days and feature itineraries in the Mediterranean,

South America and Africa.
