Star Clippers Launches New Loyalty Program Benefits, New Ship

Nov 07, 2016

Monaco-based tall-ship sailing specialist Star Clippers has announced that every month starting in March 2017, it will offer a special Top Gallant cruise with benefits including triple savings (up to 9 percent), prepaid gratuities, an hour of complimentary Wi-Fi access, sweets and champagne, luggage protection sleeves (limited availability) and a cocktail reception onboard. Those who refer others using the Top Gallant Referral Program form will receive a $400 savings,

The line’s loyalty program functions differently from most. Instead of being tiered with increasing benefits, every passenger who sails with Star Clippers automatically becomes a Top Gallant member, and the information is recorded so that guests automatically qualify for the perks.

And there is special reason for travelers to book for 2017 and beyond. Late next year, Star Clippers will launch the new 300-passenger Flying Clipper, designed after the Golden Age’s biggest sailing ship: the 1912 France II. Flying Clipper will cruise under 39,288 square feet of sail and will have 34 balcony staterooms and four Owner’s Suites to meet increasing guest demand.

In addition to the line’s signature glass-bottom swimming pool, which brings light and entertainment to the atrium below, Flying Clipper will have an unusual feature: an 18-foot-deep (two-deck) scuba diving pool with glass sides so that spectators can see the divers. The line will offer onboard diving courses in some destinations, bringing local instructors on to supplement the resident dive master.
