Upping the Ante

Dec 08, 2008

Cruise West has announced that the line’s B.E.A.R. (Bookings Earn Additional Revenue) Program will provide commissions of 10 to 15 percent over the standard commission level. The program is designed to reward agents for their marketing on specific itineraries and products.

“Time and time again Cruise West receives comments from guests of larger cruise vessels that wish they had known about small-ship cruising when they booked their cruise,” president and CEO Dietmar R. Wertanzl commented. “Your clients will be ecstatic as they view a Grizzly Bear sniffing about in Misty Fjords or swim amongst sea lions in the Sea of Cortez, and you’ll enjoy the greater commissions that our robust sales program offers.”

To take maximum advantage of the B.E.A.R. Program, agents must select a Cruise West destination and season to promote. Once agents complete the online request form or ask to be set up for the program through Cruise West’s Inside Sales Department, they can begin marketing specific itineraries and earning extra commission right away.

The B.E.A.R Marketing Program is applicable to all Cruise West destinations except Voyage to the Bering Sea, In Harriman's Wake, the Galapagos, Ring of Fire, Grand Asia and Vietnam. The 25 percent commission is based on earning the standard 10 percent commission plus the maximum 15 percent B.E.A.R. commission, which is applicable for Panama & Costa Rica, Mexico’s Sea of Cortez Whales & Wildlife cruises, and Cruise West's new summer Columbia & Snake River cruises. All other cruise itineraries earn an additional 10 percent B.E.A.R commission.

The travel seller earns of 10 or 15 percent B.E.A.R. Marketing Dollars that may be used as additional agency commission, client incentives and to cover marketing costs. For every 10 guests booked, the agent also earns a bonus commission equal to one berth, with a maximum of four TC (tour conductor) berths an agent may earn. TC credit is earned at the end of the travel agent’s B.E.A.R Season at the rate of one credit for 10 paying guests, based on the average category sold.

The B.E.A.R. commission is combinable with Quyana Club Member savings and other offers. Some restrictions apply.
