Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has opened
registration for the Virtual World’s Largest Cruise Night (WLCN),
the newest feature in the one-day travel agency initiative.
The virtual component enables agents to participate online,
reaching even more potential cruise guests.
WLCN, the centerpiece for CLIA’s October National Cruise
Vacation Month, will be held Wed., Oct. 17 and is now in its third
year.
Over 700 agencies participated in 2006, generating $18.5 million
in cruise sales and more than $2.4 million in travel agency
commissions.
The Virtual WLCN capability allows agents to host a virtual
event online. Agents will be able to customize a Web page featuring
their agency information and choose up to five short videos of the
cruise products from participating CLIA member lines. A unique URL
will then be created that can be distributed to their clients and
new prospects, inviting them to participate remotely.
Among the participating CLIA lines in the virtual component are
Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises, Crystal
Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises,
Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Princess Cruises, Regent
Seven Seas Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Seabourn Cruise
Line, Silversea Cruises and Uniworld Grand River Cruises.
In addition to virtual events, during this one 24-hour period,
agencies this year will hold luncheons, cocktail parties, dinners,
full-scale expos, and many other activities to promote the value
and desirability of cruise vacations.
