Following sister ships Riviera Radiance, Riviera Resplendence and Riviera Reflection, Riviera Travel is next planning to debut Riviera Rhapsody in April 2028.
The U.K.-based company — known for its 40 years in river cruising, ocean yachting and international land touring — has made bold moves in the U.S. market in recent years, and the fourth riverboat will further boost that position.
“Riviera Rhapsody represents an exciting expansion of our Radiance Class fleet and our continued investment in the North American market,” said Stuart Milan, president of North America for Riviera Travel. “Her name reflects a spirited and expressive sense of travel, capturing the emotional connection and sense of discovery that define Riviera Travel’s European river cruise experiences. As demand continues to grow among North American travelers for elevated river cruising, this new ship delivers the modern design, comfort and immersive itineraries they’re looking for.”
Public Venues
As part of the Radiance Class fleet, Rhapsody’s design will mirror the preceding vessels, including a unique split-level bow section pairing high ceilings and vaulted venues. The double-decker central lounge and main restaurant will be offset at a mezzanine level, hosting the forward scenic bar.
Once again, the main restaurant will be one of three dining venues for greater variety in an otherwise smaller riverboat setting. The primary eatery will serve elevated multi-course meals, while the aft-facing panoramic Riverview Bistro will offer alfresco opportunities serviced by an open galley, and Mosaic will present tapas-style plates.
Private Accommodations
Staterooms will showcase floor-to-ceiling French balconies. The ship’s 89 guestrooms will span several categories, including 172-square-foot, entry level cabins; 258-square-foot Superior Suites with a dedicated sitting area; and 344-square-foot Grand Suites with a delineated living space, a king-size bed and a private veranda with its own outdoor seating.
Itineraries
Rhapsody will first set sail on April 1, 2028, on a Bruges, Medieval Flanders, Amsterdam & The Dutch Bulbfields route along the Dutch waterways, before repositioning to the Rhine River for the summer. For that season, the riverboat will highlight the line’s Rhine Cruise to Switzerland itinerary.
“Riviera Rhapsody further strengthens Riviera Travel’s commitment to investing in a modern, next-generation river cruise fleet designed specifically for today’s North American traveler,” the line explained in a statement. “With a focus on spacious accommodations, elevated dining and contemporary design, the ship reflects the company’s continued evolution as it expands its presence in the U.S. market and introduces new ways for guests to experience Europe’s most iconic waterways.”
