First, there was Icon of the Seas, then Star of the Seas and Legend of the Seas. And now, the fourth in the latest series from Royal Caribbean will be Hero of the Seas.
Scheduled to sail from Miami in August 2027, the new ship will expand on the previous three with several enhancements that are sure to excite clients, including eight neighborhoods, 28 dining venues and cooking classes, a claim of the most pools at sea and the all-new Ultimate Family Treehouse.
“Icon Class truly set a new standard for family vacations, and Hero of the Seas takes that vision even further,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean. “With more water, more thrills and more choices for all ages, we’re continuing to build on what our guests love about Royal Caribbean and delivering the experiences families are looking for when vacationing together.”
Lofty Accommodations
Not only will the Ultimate Family Townhouse return to the back of the ship, but multi-gen groups will have all the more reason to try out the new vessel thanks to the three-story Ultimate Family Treehouse perched on top. The unique accommodation will have its own double-decker teen space, a pair of main bedrooms and bathrooms, a rooftop terrace and a private whirlpool, all themed to a fun, rustic treehouse setting.

For slightly more modest but equally comfortable options, Hero will again have Surfside Family Suites, Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies and Interior Plus rooms, all the way up to Royal Loft Suites and Sunset Suites.
Pools and Other Activities
With nine in total, Royal Caribbean says Hero will offer the most pools on a ship, starting with the new Coconut Cove, conveniently located next to The Lime and Coconut bar. The pool will come complete with in-water loungers, poolside service and views of Central Park’s lush greenery. The adults-only Hideaway will newly showcase an in-water DJ booth and two pools, one of which will purportedly be the biggest swim-up bar at sea.
Similarly, the Swim & Tonic pool and swim-up bar will be expanded, and Splashaway Bay will feature all-new water features.
Hero’s waterpark, Category 6, will be updated with enhancements on the mat-racing Storm Chasers and two new family raft slides, extending to the first-ever funnel raft slide at sea. Fan favorites Crown’s Edge combination skywalk and zipline attraction and FlowRider will also be reprised, plus the Adrenaline Peak rock-climbing wall, Lost Dunes mini-golf course and sports courts.
Dining
Among Hero’s 28 dining options will be the line’s newest eatery, Orleans Parish Supper Club, which takes design and culinary cues from the early 20th-century French Quarter with multi-course Cajun and Creole dishes, craft cocktails and live jazz music. Royal Railway – Hero Station, meanwhile, will simulate train travel for a culinary adventure to new destinations, and the Surfside neighborhood will feature interactive, all-ages cooking classes.

The AquaDome Market will be updated with four new stalls in addition to the returning Creme de la Crepe and Simply Pressed. Still along for the ride on Hero are fleet favorites Izumi, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Chops Grille, Hooked Seafood, Basecamp, El Loco Fresh and Sorrento’s.
Itineraries
Hero will embark on various seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami, all of which will include a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, in the Bahamas. Among the routes are Roatan, Honduras; Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.
