Through Thomson Family Adventures’ recently launched toddler trips, even the smallest — and, quite frankly, cutest — of travelers get to join the fun. Designed for kids ages 2 to 6, the tour operator’s seven-day Costa Rica Toddler Adventure helps families explore the varied landscapes of the Costa Rican province of Guanacaste.
Little ones are sure to love a visit to the animal sanctuary within Diamante Eco Adventure Park, where toucans, pumas, sloths, monkeys and snakes all reside. The experience is intended to assist in introducing young travelers to a jungle environment. Toddlers will also get several tastes of Costa Rican culture by way of a tortilla-making class; a traditional ox cart ride; folk dancing and marimba concerts; a bilingual storytelling hour with local children at a public library; and more.
Another highlight is a private boat ride that takes clients to different white- and dark-sand beaches around Guanacaste; families are welcome to jump in the crystal-blue water and swim and snorkel at their own pace.
Plenty of downtime is built into the itinerary so toddlers — and parents — can rest as needed. Additionally, by taking advantage of available babysitters on day three, grown-ups can sneak away to the spa for some solo relaxation or opt for outdoor thrills including ziplining and sea kayaking.
