Disneyland Resort’s 60th anniversary bash officially began on May 22, and the party is nothing short of magnificent. Mouse ear-clad fans are lining up to experience the Anaheim, Calif., park’s new entertainment options, which include Paint the Night, an updated version of the beloved Main Street Electrical Parade; the new Disneyland Forever fireworks spectacular; and the new “World of Color — Celebrate!” water show that features actor and singer Neil Patrick Harris.
The celebration has also been kicked up a notch with Disneyland Diamond Days, a sweepstakes with prizes bound to excite any and all Disney buffs.
As part of the Diamond Days giveaway offer, daily and weekly prizes will be handed out to guests present at Disneyland Resort at the time of sweepstakes entry and prize redemption (park admission is not required). The gifts range widely, from VIP viewing passes for nighttime shows to individualized tours of the park. Over-the-top prizes include a crystal Cinderella slipper with a diamond and topaz pendant; an overnight stay in the Disneyland Dream Suite in New Orleans Square; a private party in Fantasyland; and a private cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat.
For guests who don’t win an extravagant prize, there’s still plenty of branded merchandise available in honor of the park’s 60th. More than 500 items will debut for the celebration, including limited-edition pins, mugs shaped like oil cans (perfect for fans of the film “Cars”) and custom-designed Dooney & Bourke leather bags.

While cruising around the park, visitors should also be on the lookout for refreshed scenery, new ride effects and new cast-member performances. On Matterhorn Bobsleds, expect to roll past a more ferocious abominable snowman and other animation changes. Peter Pan’s Flight and Haunted Mansion have new tricks up their sleeves, too.
Disneyland guests also have the opportunity to join a daily Diamond March-Along on Main Street, U.S.A. In the same location, the Dapper Dans quartet invites visitors to participate in Diamond Sing-Alongs, and the Straw Hatters band gathers guests for Diamond Dance-Alongs. Additional new interactive experiences are available in Disney California Adventure.
“Our cast members are the stewards of the incredible legacy that Walt Disney bestowed on us,” said Michael Colglazier, president of Disneyland Resort. “They are the storytellers who bring your amazing experiences to life, and they are the heart and soul of every meaningful interaction at Disneyland Resort. I’m looking forward to watching them shine throughout our Diamond Celebration.”
