Family Tour and Cruise News for Fall 2014

Sep 28, 2014

New Tauck Bridges Tours
Expanding its family travel portfolio, the Tauck Bridges collection of tours and cruises will include new London, Paris and Rome tours and a South African safari in 2015. Beginning at $7,417 per person (triple occupancy), the 12-day Grand European Family Holiday commences with a three-night stay in London, followed by an underwater journey to Paris onboard the Eurostar train and three days of sightseeing in Rome, including an exclusive after-hours tour of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. Another option is the 10-day South Africa: Epic Family Adventure itinerary, which begins at $5,826 per person (triple occupancy) and is limited to 34 guests per departure. Activities such as ziplining and game drives to immerse families in the natural wonders of the country are part of the trip. Both journeys include sightseeing, entertainment, most meals and activities, as well as airport transfers, gratuities and luggage handling.

Polar Adventures From Abercrombie & Kent
Luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) is celebrating 25 years in business by offering six journeys on the all-balcony Le Boreal during the 2015-2016 season. This exclusive charter of Le Boreal allows A&K to limit passenger capacity to 199 passengers and stick to a smaller group size — no more than 12 people — on twice-daily shore excursions. Parents and children on the company’s Family Holiday Departure, which takes place from Dec. 18, 2015, to Jan. 4, 2016, will celebrate the holidays while sailing in the Antarctic region. They’ll also enjoy a dedicated children’s program and spacious two-room suites. Prices for children ages 7 to 18 begin at $9,495, with one full-fare paying adult per cabin (except in suites).

Cruises Tailored for Babies
MSC Cruises and baby brand Chicco have teamed up to make six of MSC’s cruise ships more comfortable for families traveling with infants. Select ships now offer a wide variety of Chicco child care equipment, including strollers, bottle warmers and baby backpacks for shore excursions. Families will also receive a “Baby Globetrotter” guide full of information and tips about onboard services, club activities, kids’ menus and more. Parents can also rest assured that their children are under the watchful eye of knowledgeable staffers, as Chicco Observatory, a developmental research lab focusing on children under 3 years old, will provide special training for staff who manage onboard child care.

Customizable Journeys From African Safari Company
African Safari Company specializes in the art of experiential safari itineraries, and the company’s new Highlights Family Safari gives multigenerational groups a chance to explore southern Africa over the course of 12 days. The private tour is fully customizable and appropriate for groups of adult families and children of all ages. While traversing Botswana, Zambia and South Africa, itinerary highlights include Victoria Falls, Cape Town and Chobe National Park. Guests will have private guides and vehicles throughout the journey. Hotels, most meals, drinks at safari lodges, land transportation and game drives are included, as are park fees and taxes at all locations. The safari departs on request with groups of six or more, and prices begin at $6,744 for adults and $6,038 for kids.
