Guests at The Phoenician, A Luxury Collection Resort, in Scottsdale, Ariz., have been flying through the air with the greatest of ease thanks to the resort’s newest on-site activity: trapeze.

Gliding over a specially designed net and using secure safety belts and lines, even first-time flyers will be able to complete a signature wrist-to-wrist catch after only one lesson.

Participants ages 4 and up are guided through the activity by the Long Island, N.Y.-based I.FLY Trapeze team.

“Guests today are looking for experiential activities that define the destination,” said Mark Vinciguerra, managing director for The Phoenician. “Our I.FLY Trapeze program does just that: creating signature, collectible moments that capture the spirit of discovery and adventure.”

In this case, the adventure is also completely safe. Participants are given detailed instructions on the ground before climbing the ladder 30 feet to the platform above. Attached at all times to safety wires clipped to a harness around their waist — and belayed by an instructor on the ground — flyers are also assisted by at least one instructor on the platform.

“Flying trapeze is exciting whether you’re watching it or participating,” said Marco Rosamilia, co-owner of I.FLY. “So, we make a point to ensure that our students and spectators have a good time and feel like part of our family.”

Plans are being finalized for the return of the I.FLY Trapeze program to The Phoenician in October once the Arizona weather cools down.

“We are very excited about this partnership,” said Marco’s brother and I.FLY co-owner Anthony Rosamilia. “It allows us to share the thrill of our high-flying program at one of the country’s most iconic destinations.”
