The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) recently opened its first children’s play space, a 971-square-foot area in the new Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT). LAX Beach is designed to entertain children ages two through eight, offering beach-themed foam sculptures, play equipment and a seating area for parents and guardians. The $350,000 play space was designed by Westfield and paid for by Los Angeles World Airports.
“Happy children make better flyers,” said Gina Marie Lindsey, executive director of Los Angeles World Airports. “With the opening of LAX Beach, we are going to see more happy children on our international flights. It’s another step LAX has taken to improve the traveling experience for every passenger — no matter how young.”
LAX Beach is one of many family-friendly amenities in TBIT. Others include the Sanrio Surprises gift shop, Bead Factory, where guests can create their own bracelets, and dedicated children’s book sections at terminal stores Relay and The Economists.
