When Universal Studios Hollywood announced Jurassic Park – The Ride would become extinct to make way for a “Jurassic World” attraction, it caused concern among some fans because the water-based ride was one of the park’s signature attractions.
Thankfully, Jurassic World – The Ride preserves everything fans loved about the old attraction, including the iconic “Jurassic Park” gates and the thrilling final drop. The ride also adds state-of-the-art technology; immersive storytelling; and new dinosaurs, including an Indominus Rex and an aquatic Mosasaurus.
“Jurassic Park was a staple in our portfolio of groundbreaking attractions, but as the films have evolved, it made sense for the ride to evolve,” said Karen Irwin, president and chief operating officer of Universal Studios Hollywood. “Jurassic World is the next step in our ongoing evolution.”
The area surrounding the attraction has also been updated. Now, clients can meet two new realistic dinosaurs, plus participate in a Raptor Encounter with Blue, the Velociraptor from the movie. In addition, the reimagined area includes an interactive Dino Play area where kids can excavate giant dinosaur fossils; Jurassic Cafe, with its Costa Rican-inspired menu; and Isla Nu-Bar, which serves tropical tiki cocktails.
